Alicante Spain sees surge in air traffic arrivals

With the local debt crisis keeping flights and living costs cheap, Brits in particular are flocking to Spain for a sun-seeking vacation in 2011, which could account for the 8% increase in air passenger arrivals as reported by Spain's public air navigation body.

AENA reports that 95 million people have so far passed through Spanish airports, an increase that can also be explained by more low-cost airlines focusing their efforts on the attractive and affordable nation - the number of flights scheduled to Spain has increased by 2.5% compared to H1 2010. Brits in particular continue to take a shine to Spain, with bookings to the country up 11% so far this year according to the Association of British Travel Agents, and four of Easyjet's top five destinations of the moment being Spanish cities - Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Madrid and Alicante.

Dennis' travel plans

Our dog "Dennis" got his passport, injections etc on June 27th which meant that he could travel to the UK from January 27th next year.
However....the DEFRA regulations will become more relaxed from January 1st next year.
Bearing in mind that his Rabies injection was given on 27th June, from what date will he be able to travel?

The TRAIN

Can anyone please tell me the cost of using the train on Gran Alicant its route and times please.

The cost is €2.00 for a return ticket for one day. The train from where we are, outside the town hall, starts on the hour and goes past Avda de Mediterraneo, down to the beach and coming back via the Carabasi bar complex on to the GA Commercial centre via Avda Noruega.

The round trip is about an hour.

Hope this helps, Richard.

BEST PLACE IN SPAIN

I have been living in this area for the last 5 years and have to say its got to be one of the best places in Spain. I tried the north first and then the South Costa Blanca before I found this place. Its got the best weather and the best people, a great mix of all nations and never any trouble. So if you are thinking about coming to Spain to live then give this place a look first.

Mazarron

Murcia region in Spain is set to exceed EUR 2 billion over the next 12 months as construction on Europe’s biggest theme park and a string of new hotels and tourism facilities gets underway.

Murcia’s regional government is also spending EUR millions on new roads to serve a new international airport and Spain’s first high-speed train station to link to an airport and theme park which are just 20 minutes apart. Corvera International Airport's opening, in Spring 2012, conincides with the start of construction work on the Paramount Studios Theme Park and high-speed rail link and airport station.

Fast-track construction is expected to see the first stage of the theme park and high-speed train link start operating in 2014 so the first of a forecast 3 million visitors a year can enjoy the Hollywood blockbuster themed rides and attractions.
